TEENAGE JEWELLERY ROBBER TO STAY BEHIND BARS

An 18 year old accused of robbing a Treetops jewellery store will stay behind bars until his next court appearance in December.

Jake Smith surrendered to police custody yesterday morning.

He was charged with armed robbery.

Police will allege he tried on a 2-thousand dollar chain before running off with it.

The shop’s owner was hit by the getaway car trying to stop the thieves.

“He did surrender and he wasn’t the driver of the car that injured the woman.”

Smith was already on probation for public nuisance and obstructing police.
