Uncertainty still surrounds the future of three north west ABC Learning Centres, which have been placed on the hit list of facilities under review.
The centre in Hercules Street in Tamworth and two in Armidale and Inverell are among 386 childcare centres that could close at the end of the year.
The Local Government Association says it will hurt communities already suffering in the current economic climate, and put jobs at risk.
However, Tamworth mayor James Treloar, believes the impact on the city will be minimal if the Hercules Street operation shuts down.
He says other centres in Tamworth, including a new facility opening next week, will be able to pick up the slack.
