The parents of 21 month-old twins who were pulled unconscious from a backyard pool on St Huberts Island, are maintaining a bedside vigil for their surviving son.
Matthew is still critically ill in Randwick children’s hospital.
His brother Ethan died hours after the incident.
It’s been revealed they’d been in the care of their grandfather and uncle.
Police say they don’t yet know how the boys came to enter the pool area and won’t confirm or deny reports the gate may have been propped open with a clothes peg.
They’re yet to interview all family members, preferring to allow them to focus on the care of the surviving twin.
