FUNDING TO BOOST FARMING PRODUCTIVITY

Landholders are being urged to apply for federal government funding to boost farming productivity.

Applications are now open on the latest round of funding from the ‘Trees on Farms’ and ‘Healthy Rivers’ programs.

The Northern Tablelands Local Land Services says the initiatives help protect and manage farmland.

“Historically we had a lot die back through the New England Tablelands and even going back further, in years gone by, there was a lot of vegetation clearing… That was sort of encouraged… But nowadays it’s sort of recognised that we need to have more vegetation in the landscape.”
