GRAFITTI CRACKDOWN
It’s hoped a new control bill introduced into State Parliament will make it easier for police to combat graffiti.
The Graffiti Control Bill will make it illegal to possess implements such as etching tools or pens with the intention of using them to damage property.
This previously only applied to spray cans.
The new Bill comes after the problem of graffiti was highlighted at the last Tamworth Regional Council meeting, with concerns it was on the rise in the city.
Under the revised graffiti laws, police will also be able to issue on the spot fines for retailers who fail to secure their spray can displays.
