RURAL TASKFORCE BACK ON AGENDA

It seems the recommendations of the Rural and Regional Taskforce are back on the agenda.
The Member for Northern Tablelands, Richard Torbay, has met the state Minister for Regional Development, Phillip Costa, in the hope the government will finally act on the findings.
Taskforce members held six public meetings last year, focusing on the challenges of rural areas.
Recommended reforms include a new model for delivering health services, improved regional public transport, and fixed income revenue for local councils.
The taskforce is also seeking more funding for roads and bridges as well as drought relief.
