HUNTER TOP DROPS CELEBRATED AT STATE AWARDS
Pokolbin’s Audrey Wilkinson winery has picked up the New South Wales wine of the year award.
Its 2006 Hunter Valley Museum Reserve Semillon was named as the top drop at a ceremony in Sydney.
Audrey Wilkinson owner, Brian Agnew, also collected the newly-named Trevor Drayton Trophy for Best Young Dry White for the semillon.
And Tyrrell’s Murray Flannigan was awarded the Graham Gregory trophy for his contribution to the industry, after 40 years fronting the company’s cellar door.
Mistletoe Wines had the best chardonnay, while Warrawong Estate took out the trophy for the premier sparkling wine.
Of the top 40 wines, 17 were from the Hunter.
