MORE DROUGHT AREAS UNDER REVIEW

The federal government has called for more areas in our region to be included in a review of drought relief funding.

It has asked the National Rural Advisory Council, an independent body, to asses parts of the central north and northwest, where farmers say they haven’t fully recovered from the drought.

They include most of the Coonabarabran Rural Lands Protection Board, the northern slopes and parts of the Moree, Armidale and Tamworth RLPBs.

The New South Wales government has provided the Commonwealth with updated rainfall figures and information on seasonal conditions.
