An unusally heavy fog in Coffs Harbour this morning disrupted air travel with a Virgin Airlines flight from Sydney had to turn back this morning, with heavy fog limiting visibility.
Hundreds of passengers were delayed for around two hours while airlines waited for it to lift.
According to the weather bureau, fogs during October only occur every few years.
A cool southerly change clashed with warm moist air over the city causing the thick fog.
