A woman is recovering after a violent attack in Tamworth last night.
Police say the 18-year-old was walking home along Kent Street just before eight o’clock when a man began following her.
She ran into Mahony Avenue but the man caught up with her, pushed her against a wire fence and sexually assaulted her.
A brief description of the offender has been provided.
He is caucasian, aged in his 30s and of heavy build, and at the time of the attack was wearing a light-coloured shirt.
The victim was treated in hospital, while police are today appealing for any information.
