WHALE SPECTACLE: MOTHER TEACHES CALF TO BREACH
As marine scientists continue to ponder the reasons why whales breach, new pictures of a mother and her calf show that the littlies are taught the high flying antics at a very young age.
Experts are gaining some valuable insights during this year’s southern migration.
These spectacular images were shot by Pierre Rakus aboard the whale watch vessel, “Imagine” off Port Stephens.
The display co-incides with the Port Stephens’ Whale Festival, which is underway in the New South Wales tourist town of Nelson Bay until October 10.
