The National Trust has condemned a move to demolish the historic Roxy Theatre in Glen Innes to make way for a fast food restaurant.
The Trust say Glen Innes Severn Council’s decision is a great loss to community.
Built around 1915, the theatre was heritage-listed by the council in 1991.
National Trust Executive, John Neish, says the developer, Macdonalds, should have incorporated the building into it’s design plan.
Council approved the development in July, saying it would provide jobs and training for young people.
