LANGLEY EYES OFF PORT SEAT
James Langley, who resigned from the Labor Party in disgust over its failure to field a candidate in the Lyne federal by-election, has decided to run as an independent, but, not for that seat.
Mr Langley will instead contest the state seat of Port Macquarie, left vacant following Rob Oakeshott’s decision to take a tilt at federal politics by entering the race for Lyne.
Mr Langley says he will offer the people of Port Macquarie the best possible opportunity to send the major parties the message that the community doesn’t want electricity privatisation.
The 45-year-old high school teacher represented the Labor Party at last year’s federal election.
