SPECIAL COMMISSION FINDINGS – NOT TO BE RELEASED UNTIL NEXT YEAR

The Hunter’s Special Commission of Inquiry into allegations of abuse and cover ups in the Catholic church won’t have its findings reported until early next year, after Commissioner Margaret Cunneen sought an extension.
The findings were due to be presented to the NSW government by September 30.
Premier Barry O’Farrell says it’s important all matters are properly investigated.
“No-one wants any short-cuts when it comes into matters as serious as these.
“The commission has the responsibility to examine thousands of pages of transcripts, documents and other evidence it’s gathered during its investigations,” he said.
