South Tweed Bowls Club’s hopes of finally winning the National Club 5-A-Side Challenge at Club Helensvale, have been dashed.
The southerners were knocked out of the $50,000 event this morning, after four years of finishing runner-up.
Strong Sydney teams, St John’s Park and Merrylands, also suffered big losses.
“You know a lot of rain yesterday, the greens are very slow, so it’s made it a very even competition.”
Helensvale and Burleigh Heads are still in contention.
Semi-finals start tomorrow.
