NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR NEW FOOTBALL FACILITY IN LAKE MACQUARIE

The state government has announced $7.3 million in funding for the construction of a Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility at Speers Point.
The project was recommended by the Hunter Infrastructure & Investment Fund Advisory Board and will feature 10 synthetic football courts, two international standard synthetic football pitches, an administration building and a car park.
The project, costing a total $11.3 million in total, is a partnership between Lake Macquarie Council, Northern NSW Football and Macquarie Football.
Minister for the Hunter Michael Gallacher said the funding is an important regional initiative.
“The facility will enable elite, amateur, recreational players as well as school children and
people with disabilities to play football all year round,” he said.
As a mother of two boys who love soccer I’m all for it, my 10 year old son actually played soccer at Speers Point today in his school Grand Final and won!! But how about a facility that would benefit all the community. An all year round aquatic centre incorporating a gym and other fitness choices. A centre that would be an attraction for kids to help beat childhood obesity and the elderly to be active. The swimming pools in the Lake Macquarie area are at 1970’s standards.
Stunned Lake Macquarie resident.
