Gold Coast teen charged over alleged list ranking female students

A Gold Coast teenager has been charged with allegedly making an online list that harassed female students.

The 17-year-old boy is accused of being behind a ranking system that categorised female students from Foxwell State Secondary College in Coomera.

The boy is not a student at the school.

The police investigation was sparked by an alleged social media post that started circulating last month.

Teenage girls were allegedly put into categories such as “abduction material” or “unrapeable”.

The incident was first reported to police on May 29.

Senior Sergeant Greg Aubort from Gold Coast District Child Protection said the case highlighted the serious consequences of using online platforms to intimidate or harass others.

“Police urge the community to remain vigilant and report any instances of cyberbullying or online harassment,” he said in a statement.

“Such behaviour not only affects the wellbeing of individuals but also carries significant legal ramifications.”

Education Queensland told 9News the teenager was not a current student at Foxwell or any other state school.

The 17-year-old boy from Coomera has been charged with three counts using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

He will be dealt with under the youth justice act.
