10,000 REASONS TO COME TO NEWCASTLE

Newcastle has a lot to offer – with world-class education, healthcare and business opportunities.

Now, the ‘New Move’ initiative is summoning innovative and community-minded entrepreneurs to re-locate to the city with a $10,000 grant.

The initiative aims to incentivise accomplished talent from other capital cities, to come and invest in Newcastle with their own business models.

The program is estimated to create up to 75 jobs and $25 million in local economic output.

It is an Australian first, but was born from America’s highly successful Tulsa Remote initiative.

Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes says “the grant is one great reason to consider a move to Newcastle, however there are 10,000 more reasons why Newcastle is the perfect place for entrepreneurial, community-minded and innovative people to create impact.

“The global labour market is changing. COVID-19 has shown that people can work from anywhere in the world. Increasingly young professionals are choosing smaller, but well-connected cities, like Newcastle due to their superior lifestyle.”

She hopes the successful applicants will not only become new members of the community but will also engage as ambassadors, attracting further people to the city.

The New Move program will be funded by the City of Newcastle and applications are now open.
