A scrap metal yard in Lake Macquarie has gone up in flames.
Firefighters rushed to Lucky’s Scrap Metal on Racecourse Road at Teralba, just after 11am.
Videos posted to social media show thick plumes of smoke billowing into the air.
Eight crews worked for over an hour to get the blaze, which started in a metal recycling pile, under control.
Fire investigators will remain on scene to determine what cause the scrap heap to go up in flames.
The blaze has been contained, however Racecourse Road remains closed.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
