YACHT CATCHES FIRE AT PORT MACQUARIE’S MARINA
Investigations are underway into what sparked a fire inside a yacht at Port Macquarie’s Marina this morning.
Fire and rescue crews were called to the scene just after 10 o’clock.
“On arrival we found the galley and kitchen area alight within the yacht. Fire crews were quick to get to work and extinguish that fire and we have limited the spread of the fire to the adjoining vessels and to only within the kitchen” – Gavin Muller – Port Macquarie Fire and Rescue’s Station Officer.
A special hazard team was called in to remove the high levels of carbon monoxide.
At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown but substantial damage was caused to the boat’s interior.
