TRUCK FIRE CLOSES PART OF THE M1

There was heavy traffic on the M1 this afternoon, after a semi-trailer was engulfed by flames near Morisset.

Firefighters were called just before one o’clock, and arrived to find the truck well alight.

The blaze also sparked a small grass fire.

One northbound lane of the motorway was closed for around three hours, while crews extinguished the flames.

The truck driver escaped injury.
