FAMILY OF FIVE ESCAPES HOUSE FIRE

Fire fighters say a family from Fletcher was lucky to escape their burning house in the early hours of this morning.

A father woke to the smell of smoke in his Magnolia Close house just after 3am.

Waking his wife, they gathered their three young children, as fire took hold in the central staircase leading to their upstairs bedrooms.

The Dad exited by an upstairs window with an 18-month-old, while the Mum and two other children made it down the stairs.

A power board is thought to have sparked the fire.
